A 25-year-old woman is dead and two others were injured — including a 4-year-old boy– early Sunday after a car hit an object in the Medical Village neighborhood on the Near West Side, police said.
A car struck an object such as a tree or a pole in the 1600 block of West Harrison Street at 1:50 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said, citing preliminary information. The vehicle was a white car located on the south side of Harrison Street.
A 25-year-old woman, who was a passenger, was dead, Gaines said. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. A 4-year-old boy was taken in “stable” condition to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital.
The woman has been identified as Angeline De Leon, 25, of the 3000 block of South University Drive in Fargo, N.D, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. She was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 2:38 a.m.
